Late last year, Google announced a contest for Google+ photographers, students in particular, which would have the best photos in several categories displayed at the Saatchi Gallery in London.

As you'd expect, the contest generated quite a bit of interest and some 20,000 photographers submitted their works. Of those, 100 were chosen for the shortlist and now the 10 finalists have been announced.

All of them will have their works on display at the famous gallery starting April 25th, with the overall winner being announced on April 24th.

"Our judging panel of seven leading photography experts chose the 10 finalists whose work will be shown in our exhibition in the Saatchi Gallery," Google wrote.

"Today we’re announcing the finalists: Collin Avery (U.S.), Viktor Johansson (Sweden), Kyrre Lien (Norway), Alexandra Claudia Manta (Romania), Balázs Maté (Hungary), Adi Sason (Israel), Oliver Seary (UK), Dana Stirling (Israel), Sasha Tamarin (Israel), Zhao Yi (China)," it announced.

There were 10 categories to choose from in the contest and contestants uploaded their pics to Google+ to show them off, in a themed album with what they deemed was their best work.

The winner of the competition will get a trip to a location they choose and have a professional photographer to guide them.

You can check out the 100 artists that made it to the shortlist on Google's Photography Prize page. All of the photos are available on Google+ of course, so if you're a fan of photography, you're sure to find at least some people that you're going to like in there to add to your circles.

Google+ has been rather attractive to photographers, the photos section is quite well built, the viewer is one of the best on any photo site, let alone social network, and the added benefit of having a rather large potential audience helps as well.
