For a couple of months now, Google has been running the “I love football” doodle competition. It’s the first international doodle competition and the response so far has been pretty impressive. Kids from the 17 participating countries sent in their designs and the best one in each state has already been established. Now, the company is asking you to vote on
the global winner of the competition.

“From footballs to goalposts, we saw some truly creative designs that prove just how much you can do with an ‘l,’ an ‘e,’ and a couple of ‘o’s and ‘g’s. In the past two weeks, the winner of each country’s competition had their design shown on their country’s homepage for a day. Now, we need help deciding which of these top doodlers’ artwork will be featured on the Google homepage of all 17 participating countries on July 11,” Anat S. Amir, Head of Marketing at Google Africa, wrote.

Google says more than 35,000 children submitted a football-themed logo for the competition. Still, all of them got their chance and one from each country was picked as the winner and featured on the local Google homepage. But that was just the first phase of the contest; the winning designs will now go head-to-head to determine the international winner.

The “I love football” doodle competition ran in Australia, Germany, Ghana, South Korea, New Zealand, South Africa, United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Spain, Italy, France, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Czech Republic, Kenya, UAE and Israel. You can now cast a vote for your favorite doodle from the 17 finalists. The winner is to receive a trip to South Africa along with his or her family. The runner up will win two tickets to a Premier League match. Voting is now open and will remain so until June 28. You can vote on your favorite doodle here.
