Tacky can be only a few accessories or clothing items away

When thinking about what to wear for a night out, you should always keep in mind the number one rule all fashion gurus can never stress enough, and that’s that an outfit can turn out ridiculous if paired with the wrong (number) of accessories, or if consisting of items that cannot, by any means, go well together. The “Christmas tree” type of look first came in the spotlight in the ‘80s and that's exactly where it should remain, a mistake of the past. So, let’s learn from the best how to avoid it.

As it happens, quite recently, such striking appearances continued to surprise fashion experts and regular women alike. One of them was all the more surprising as it was a woman known until then for her exquisite fashion taste and unmatched style. Jada Pinkett Smith took the red carpet at a Milan film premiere by wearing an outfit that can only serve as a case in point for a “don't” class. Her example is eloquent enough not simply to illustrate that celebs are also prone to fashion mistakes, like regular women are, but also to emphasize the importance of simplicity in terms of clothes.

The celeb eagle-eye on duty for StyleTips101 is also among the voices calling for simplicity and ditching the “I’m trying too much” type of look, saying that “if you’re not sure about something, or something looks off, just go for something sweet and simple - don’t decorate yourself like a Christmas tree.” In Jada’s case, for instance, even if all the items she has on might have been a good option for somebody else, some other time, the result of mixing all of them together is close to horrendous.

Another point coming to weigh heavily in favor of simplicity is the fact that, if taken separately, all these items could easily be considered quite trendy: black pants, white masculine vest (in tendencies, you'd say), an orange top with shoulder pads, a pair of gorgeous brown knee-high boots, and a couple of hot-hot accessories. Her golden belt is worth mentioning, as it is nothing short of fabulous – with the only amendment that it should have been matched with a gown for a dashing effect. Also, let’s not forget about the leopard-patterned clutch-purse – again, wrong time, wrong place.
