Ubisoft announces that the popular squad - based action franchise will soon gain a new installment - Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2. The game is currently in development for Xbox 360, PlayStation3, PSP and PC. Taking care of this matter are the creators of the original Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter at Ubisoft Paris and Red Storm Studios. The worldwide release is scheduled for the spring of 2007.

Ubisoft promises an unparalleled level of quality for the defining elements in the original - sophisticated technology, weaponry, graphics, story and online gameplay. The game gives the player control over the Ghosts. In the year 2014, the fate of two countries lies in the skillful hands of this U.S. military's elite fighting unit as a full-scale civil war started in Mexico between loyalists and rebel forces that even try to attack the United States. Fortunately, the Ghosts are summoned to fight under the command of Captain Scott Mitchell in order to neutralize the rebel threat.

The game pledges a breathtaking visual experience with the aid of cutting-edge physics and particle systems that show some of the most intense and realistic explosions, smoke, and environment destruction ever. In addition, the dynamic lighting and shadows will create real-time day and night cycles along with a continually changing weather system.

New battlegrounds will call for fresh tactical approaches as the Ghosts battle enemies in mountain terrain, deserts and the Texan city El Paso. The AI has also been improved and the rebel forces can now flank your position or gain advantages from certain terrains. A more comprehensive view of the battlefield will be obtained with the use of the new Cross-Com 2.0 that grants the player with even more info allowing the expansion to a full-screen view for a clearer and more precise picture. Which is more is that a brand new soldier was included - the Medic-that can heal the team on the battlefield. Be sure that we'll be here to praise it if it's as good as it seems.
