The real issue today is: are women who appear in hip-hop videos 'video vixens' or 'hoes'? If we were to take The Game's words, they classify for the latter but if one were to believe Kanye West (who produced some of the beats for 'Wouldn't Get Far' and also raps in it), they are just regular women, gorgeous ladies who earn their living by shooting music videos.
But, for those who don't know, this brand new video that you're about to see (click
HERE) is the apple of discontent between two big names in the industry. Apparently, The Game was sick of dissing other rappers and he took on a poor little girl (who, by the way, is neither that poor nor that little), glamour model, Vida Guerra, writing a song especially for her, in which he gives her a heads-up: honey, if you don't want to have sex with a real player, you're not going to make it in showbiz.
It all started a while ago when, according to the model, The Game made a pass at her and she turned him down. The other side of the story is that not only did she NOT turn him down, but she also let herself be fingered. Speaking objectively, the first variant would explain why the rapper would go and write an entire track in which he disses her.

Again, from an objective point of view, 'Wouldn't Get Far' is a brilliant track that should be considered only for its musical merit. If Vida is a ho as The Game claims shouldn't concern us, even if the entire song makes direct reference to her and to other women who appear in videos. It's something 'fun', just as the rapper intended it to be, full of vivacity and catchy beats. The truth behind the lyrics of the song is most surely relative, depending from which perspective we look at things.
For example, Gloria Velez, who not only appears in the video but is also named in the lyrics, says that she did not feel offended by having been labeled as a 'video vixen'. In an interview with MTV News, the model stated that she had to show some sweet lovin' for The Game because he was giving her props and that, if there are girls who find the lyrics insulting, then they must be hoes (you see, they find themselves offended because they are being called by their real name - hoes).
The rapper, on the other hand, says that he never meant 'Wouldn't Get Far' to stir up so much s**t and to get Vida so enraged. Thus, we take his word for it, and we sit back and enjoy his brand new single. Surely, it doesn't hurt anyone to have some fun, does it?
