
After Mio, a company that has challenged Garmin, another maker, a Korean this time, CarPoint Co, which is known as one of the most important players on the GPS specialized market, has also launched its all-in-one device that can be used as an entertainment system or strictly as a GPS device.
CarPoint's XROAD Corea Z3300 sports GPS, navigation, traffic, safety and entertainment functions such as MP3, movie, game and the Internet, as it also comes with a nice VGA display with a native resolution of RGB 480 x 234 and an enhanced 2W speaker system.
The most important feature - the GPS of course - runs on 12 channels and Windows CE.Net 4.2, delivering a 300MHz CPU, 32MB NAND Flash/64MB SD RAM with 128MB RAM being made optional.
Mio Technology's latest multifunctional navigational device - the Mio DigiWalker C710 - can be used on the other hand as an entertainment unit, as it comes with Bluetooth connectivity, multiple entertainment options and, of course, aGPS navigation feature. The player supports several formats, including DivX, JPEG and MP3 and the device has 2 GB of flash ROM which includes maps of both the US and Canada.
Similar to Garmin's devices, this one is able to hook to any Bluetooth compatible cell phone and is also capable of providing real-time traffic updates or access to more than 5 million points of interest.
But Gramin has also launched a new service especially for mobiles - the Garmin Mobile which features fuel prices, weather conditions and forecasts, and traffic information, delivering maps, directions, and turn-by-turn navigation on mobile phones.
