Harman Kardon's very highly anticipated speakers have finally made their way to the United Kingdom and promise to be as cool as Christmas. And the meaning is literal, as well as metaphorical. The speakers not only deliver ultimate top-end audio quality but their design could be said to be overflowing with style if it didn't so closely resemble ice. The GLA-55 glass speakers are now on sale in United Kingdom stores and combine powerful high-quality sound with excellent taste.

The speakers are meant for the highest-end market and combine bleeding-edge sonic performance with true art. The speakers themselves look like ice sculptures, boasting a clear and stylized glass design. The audio side is no less astounding, with the GLA-55 2.0 speaker system being able to render superb sound thanks to the powerful CMMD Transducers.

The CMMD drivers are not just capable of high-intensity audio rendering, being capable even of low-frequency extension to four octaves thanks to the Atlas AL and CMMD transducers. The Atlas AL drivers can achieve nearly accurate bass reproduction through their 2,5 cm peak-to-peak travel.

As detailed specifications, Harman Kardon's speaker system uses a Slipstream Port Design, COE (Computer-Optimized Equalization) and OCT (Optimized Compression Topology). The Slipstream port design reduces the separation of boundary layers, allowing the bass to achieve high outputs with low distortions. The COE optimizes the system equalization, providing a full soundstage over many different listening positions. Finally, the OCT is a proprietary compression technology that makes clean and accurate sound output possible when running at high output levels.

The GLA-55 2.0 glass ice-like speakers are fully compatible with a wide variety of systems, not only including all types of desktops, but also supporting laptops and MP3 players. The system is now available in the United Kingdom at a retail price of £749.99.
