The Future of WordPress

- What is New in WordPress 2.5RC1

By: Catalin Bocanu, Web News Editor

The blog platforms development is a general priority due to the rapid evolution of all Internet technologies. The most active blogging project is represented by WordPress. A new release of WordPress blogging platform (WordPress version 2.5RC1) comes with notable changes as compared with
the major features, performance and functionality of the previous versions.

This release of WordPress platform comes with a complete redesign that will improve the nature of user interaction with the new content and layout creation tools and methods. The purpose of WordPress development team is to provide users with an optimal creation environment that will completely separate the content publishing operation from its presentation (website layout).

The WordPress blog administration area was reorganized in design and functionality. Because most of the Dashboard features were ignored by most users as a consequence of a complex design in the previous versions, the WordPress 2.5RC1 Dashboard offers webmasters or content publishers rapid access to the basic administration tasks and various useful statistics, like blog theme, widgets, content structure, recent comments, incoming links and more. The most important aspect for administrators is represented by the possibility of Dashboard customization according to their needs.

The navigation system has a new structure that separates the usual blogger tasks like management of post, pages, comments and design from functions accessed rarely, like Settings, Plugins and Users. The level of accessibility is increased through this navigation menu. The adding of new content through the Write option is simplified because the corresponding window will always display and maintain active only a minimum amount of options. The new blog posts or pages can be added also in full screen mode. The management of existing content will be performed based on user interfaces with similar menus.

In the future, we might expect other major improvements and changes in case of the WordPress platform that will give any blogger a totally new experience of content publishing and management. If you want to download this WordPress release, the distribution archive is available here.
