Thriller is based on real events but fails to strike chord with viewers

The first trailer for the thriller “The Frozen Ground” opens with a Bible quote and the warning “based on real events.” However, as serious as all this might sound (and it is, by the looks of it) it's the editing of the clip that actually does away with all seriousness.

Telling the story of serial killer Robert Hansen, played by the always magnificent John Cusack, and the weary cop who hunted him down, as portrayed by Nicolas Cage, there is nothing to smile about in the film.

The editing of the trailer though is an entirely different matter: it's so badly done – and we can't even say if it's on purpose – that it makes everything look incredibly cheap.

Vanessa Hudgens also makes an appearance as an exotic dancer and, yes, there's footage of her at work in the trailer. *Please note that some discretion is recommended when viewing it.

“The Frozen Ground” will be released in November.
