The award-winning multiplayer thriller The Flock is making its way to Valve's global distribution platform, Steam, and developer Vogelsap has released a launch video to celebrate the occasion.

The Flock has received numerous awards, being deemed a spooky surprise hit at Gamescom 2013, and the team behind the project is proud to announce the fact that Valve has allowed it to bypass the greenlight process and go straight to the store.

The game is an asymmetrical multiplayer title, where you play as a hunter lurking in the shadows, with your goal being to become the prey, which is the key to winning the game.

Players start out as a Flock in a dark and desolate world and start their quest to find the coveted Light Artifact. The player who reaches it first will transform into the Carrier, a fragile and much slower humanoid creature.

The goal of The Flock is to hold onto the artifact for as long as possible, while the other players hunt you down, with only one thing to stop them: The Flock can't move while being in the light emitted by the artifact and has to stand perfectly still or die instantly.

The Flock is a race of very agile creatures, with a much bigger freedom of movement, thus being able to attack the Carrier from all direction, which is instrumental in its success.

It has to get close to the Carrier unseen in order to become the new Carrier, as the artifact emits a burning ray of light. Alternatively, if it stands perfectly still, it turns into stone and becomes invulnerable from the light.

The team has worked very hard to make sure that the light is easily trackable and that there is an evident contrast with the surrounding environment, as the beam will always be pointed in the direction the Carrier is facing.

This will enable the Flock to predict if the situation allows for getting closer and to balance the risk of being exposed and killed, and taking advantage of situations where the Carrier is being distracted by other Flock will prove a real game changer.

The dark atmosphere is accentuated by the silhouette-based art style, as well as the dynamic audio system, which is an integral part of gameplay, delivering a more tense and immersive experience.
