The Flash is going to get his very own spin-off series, based on the second season of “Arrow,” and the project is already underway, having started production on the pilot. To mark this occasion, the production team has just released the first official image of Grant Gustin as The Flash in his signature crimson costume.

In the photo from Deadline, the DC Comics superhero looks pretty similar to his comic book version so far, but it has to be said that the photo only shows us the cowl and not the entire costume. Fans will be pleased to see that the producers have retained the yellow flash symbol on his helmet, which can be seen over his ears.

A smirking Gustin is set to play the role of Barry Allen, a scientist who gets turned into a super hero by a freak accident that gives him superhuman speed. This is pretty much the same story presented in “Arrow,” as Barry becomes The Fastest Man Alive.

At the moment, it's speculated that Flash won't be making his appearance anymore on “Arrow” after a brief cameo this season, leaving him to appear in the pilot, which is also co-starring Jesse L. Martin and is set to begin shooting next week.
