Jason Segel and Emily Blunt play couple in love – but life always gets in the way

Most romantic comedies end when the boy gets the girl or, even better, when he asks for her hand in marriage. “The Five-Year Engagement” kicks off after the happy moment, in an attempt to find out what happens next.

Starring Jason Segel and Emily Blunt as the happy couple in love, “The Five-Year Engagement” comes from the producer of “The Bridesmaids,” so you shouldn't be that surprised if you find any similarities in tone between the two.

It tells the story of Tom and Victoria, and how what they supposed was the highlight of their relationship is postponed over and over again by life events.

Thus, though thrilled to be engaged, they eventually wait over 5 years before they walk down the aisle – this being a romantic comedy, one can't but assume this is where they're heading, even if the trailer offers no indication in this sense.

Unlike other rom-coms though, this one looks slightly “realer” and, because of it, freer of clichés and much better.

“The Five-Year Engagement” will be out in theaters on April 27, 2012. It doesn't look like something you might want to miss.
