The other day, director Zack Snyder posted on Twitter the first official teaser for his latest film, the highly anticipated 2016 release “Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” which announced that a full teaser trailer would premiere in select IMAX locations on April 20.

We all know that things rarely go according to plan with a release surrounded by so much hype as this one - and the trailer has made its way online some hours ago. You can find it available below: it’s not the best quality and comes with Portuguese subtitles, but it’s enough to keep you going if you really feel like you can’t wait to know what the movie will be about.

Superman is the bad guy

Until now, the plot of the film has been a secret, because Warner Bros. refused to release an official synopsis. However, on-set spies told the media that the plan was to make Superman into the villain by holding him accountable for the destruction and the deaths caused at the end of “Man of Steel,” the rebooted Superman.

In this film, he may have saved the Earth from being destroyed by General Zod’s terraforming plans, but his brave attempt came at a very high cost. Plus, had it not been for him seeking shelter on our planet (though not willingly), Zod would have never followed him here.

This is confirmed with the leak, which includes shots of a Superman statue with the words “False God” on its chest, and voiceover snippets that show humanity’s growing dissatisfaction with the one they used to consider a protector.

Tensions will reach a boiling point, we’re made to understand, and Superman will be brought down from the pedestal he’d been put up on.

The new Batman voice

Moreover, the trailer includes a sample of Ben Affleck’s Batman voice. If you’re a fan of this particular superhero, you probably know the fuss (and the ridicule) around Christian Bale’s Batman voice in Christopher Nolan’s “Dark Knight” trilogy.

For this new Batman iteration, it seems that Snyder didn’t tell Affleck to strive to make his own words unintelligible: the voice modifications sound like they were done in post-production. The result is impressive in that it makes Affleck as Batman appear stronger, more dangerous.

Considering that he’s about to go up against the indestructible Superman, that’s a good thing, because he needs to look and sound as if he could really stand a chance in defeating Supes.

“Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice” is the first film in Warners’ planned Justice League franchise, and will open in March 2016. The official trailer is still set for an April 20 release in theaters.
