Microsoft has underlined immediately following the final release of Internet Explorer 7 that the Redmond Company would deliver additional language support for the browser. In this context, Microsoft will release no less than 24 fully localized language versions of Internet Explorer 7. Namely one browser variant for each version of Windows. On October 18, Microsoft promised to release the first IE7 language versions within two weeks, and delivered.

"We have released Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP in five new languages: German, Japanese, French, Spanish, and Finnish. We will release additional languages as they are ready over the next few months," revealed Tony Chor, Microsoft Group Program Manager.

Microsoft additionally informed that it will release the localized downloads via Automatic Updates. But, unlike the distribution of the English version of Internet Explorer 7 through AU, the localized versions will be pushed only to German, French, Spanish and Finnish users. Tony Chor pointed to mid-November as the release date. The only exception is the Japanese version, which will be delivered via Automatic Updates in the spring of 2007.
