The HardSpell site has posted the first images of an Asus video card, based on the PPU (Physics Processing Unit) processor which will incorporate the PhysX technology.

The PhysX chips were introduced by Ageia and their task is take over the video computations, freeing in this way some CPU resources. Since the GPUs are dedicated to the images' optimization, the PPUs are designed to execute operations like "rigid body dynamics, soft body dynamics, collision detection, fluid dynamics, hair and clothing simulation, finite element analysis"

The Asus video card presented in the images at HardSpell integrates 128 MB RAM of GDDR, a 0.13 micron PPU. The card comes with a PCI interface, the PCI Express version being scheduled for this year.

Sony signed in July 2005 a contract which grants the Japanese producer the right to use PhysX SDK in its Play Station 3.

This week, Softpedia would like to know your opinion on gaming consoles. What is your favorite console you either own or you are planning to buy? Are you an Xbox fan or a Playstation fan? Has Xbox360 convinced you it's time to buy one? Or you'll wait for the PS3? Express your opinion here.
