The Weather Channel Interactive announced the launch of its first Flash Lite downloadable application for Verizon Wireless' Get It Now-enabled phones. Powered by Flash technology, the new application offers users comprehensive information about weather combined with an easy to use design and rich graphics.

The subscription service delivers detailed weather forecasts, animated radar and satellite maps, as well as severe weather alerts and national severe news including hurricane coverage, all in a customizable interface. Customers can access weather information on more than 98,000 locations from all around the world. The new application offers users more than 44,000 animated radar and satellite maps for U.S. locations (including Alaska, Puerto Rico and Hawaii) and can be pre-set with favorite locations.

The service costs $3.99 monthly access and can be downloaded from Verizon's Get It Now virtual store on select phones, including LG VX9800, Motorola RAZR V3c and V3m and Samsung SCH-a950. The recently launched Flash Lite for BREW, which powers the service, allows users to download and run Flash content on their mobile phones.
