After more than a year of speculation and plenty of debate among fans on who could possibly make the best Christian Grey in the feature film coming out in 2015, we’re finally getting a proper look at Jamie Dornan in action. The first official trailer for “Fifty Shades of Grey” is finally here.

It was released as announced, and you can see it in full below. It features a version of Beyonce’s hit song “Crazy in Love,” recorded especially for the film. It’s a bit darker, racier, hotter; just the perfect thing for such an out of the ordinary tale of love and passion.

“Fifty Shades of Grey,” conveniently coming out on Valentine’s Day next year, is based on the trilogy of novels from E.L. James, which, in turn, was based on the love story in “Twilight.” Said novels are actually adult-oriented, as opposed to the “Twilight” books, which are more innocent.

Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) is a virgin who, by pure chance, gets to interview one of the richest men in the country, Christian Grey (Dornan), for the school paper. Christian is handsome, very well dressed, very mysterious, and with an edge to him that draws Ana like a moth to a flame. He is also into S&M and is deeply scarred since childhood.

All this is necessary to understand the appeal of the books and what’s going on in the trailer. That last part at the end is about how Christian initiates Anastasia in his lifestyle.

Personally, I’m surprised they managed to make this film less cheesy, more decent looking than I expected. I like how they withheld showing Christian’s face until well into the trailer, and I like how Dornan wears the hell out of those suits. He’s a very handsome man, no doubt about that.

Beyonce’s voice punctuates the sequence of scenes in the trailer very beautifully. But I’m not exactly getting my hopes up for this one to be an “artsy,” well put together film.

It will be just what you think it will be. And if you read the books, you know what I mean by that.
