Not long ago, Samsung hinted that an Android 2.2 (Froyo) update will be available in September for most of the European
Samsung Galaxy S smartphones, but the guys over Samsung Firmwares pushed it and managed to release the first Android 2.2 unofficial ROM for the
Galaxy S. Even though this is a worldwide premier, users owning the American versions of the Galaxy such as, Samsung Vibrant and Samsung Captivate will have to wait a few more days till their release is posted.
According to the developers, the unofficial ROM is stable but not the fastest one. Still, this counts as the first try to bring
Android 2.2 (Froyo) on Samsung Galaxy S, so future updates will be available pretty soon. A few things NOT working, as well as bugs of the present ROM have already been reported: Internet stops sometimes, No flash support, Sometimes the lock info screen doesn't works, No Wireless location.
If you decide to try the new Android 2.2 ROM for
Galaxy S you will need to flash your device. Before doing this be sure to have all the necessary third-party applications needed for the installment, as well as the ROM file. Installing this will void your device of any warranty, do this on your own risk.
