The Fatman iTube 452 with ValveDock: Raw Power – Utter Luxury

- Audiophiles' heaven

By: Florin Tibu, Audio Editor

There are a lot of things you can buy, but true style comes as a natural: you've got it or you don't. And if we're talking about audiophile gear, then the iTube 452 ValveDock from Fatman is by far a blast, as it comes with feats and looks all taken to extreme. In case you're looking for a piece
of audio tech to blow you away, literally.

No matter whether you're thinking to nest the Fatman iTube 452 in your Victorian living room or have it installed in your high-tech office, this high-end amp will add instant and dramatic richness to any setting and will naturally fit in any decor.

Crafted from premium materials and perfectly engineered down to minute details, this piece of tech (or art) brings together the vintage looks and feel, the sought-after warmth and rich harmonics of the traditional vacuum tubes and the latest in audio playback – the iPod docking system.

We're dealing with a 2 x 45W power amplifier running with no less than 9 tubes: five 12AX7 for preamp and four 6L6G for the power amps stage. And for those who are not that much into guitars I'll add that these tubes are the most commonly met inside history-making guitar amplifiers around the globe; and given their reliability and superior sound, anyone can expect only the best from a gear like the Fatman iTube 452.

For the gearheads, the Fatman iTube 452 comes withs elf-biasing tubes (no maintenance needed), has a 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency range and a neat 86dB signal to noise ratio. Weighing in some hefty 23 kg, this amp is definitely no toy. You'll just have to find some suitable loudspeakers in either 4 or 8 Ohms impedance and matching power rating. And for just under $3,000, the Fatman iTube 452 delivers the elegant iPod dock and a full-function remote control, letting you enjoy your luxurious sound right from your comforting Alcantara couch.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
