You may not have considered this before, but the fact that you're the proud owner of a PlayStation3 console is
mainly because of one man: Ken Kutaragi. Sure, there's a big-a*s team over there at Sony that worked hard, day and night, for you to have the PlayStation, PSone, PS2, PS2 slim, PSP and finally PS3; only Ken Kuatargi sparked the whole thing up. All they had to do from that point on was follow his guidance.

PlayStation consoles are considered to be the best of all time, although the PS3 isn't currently doing too good in sales. Ken Kutaragi saw what was available and thought of filling up the gaps that major gaming systems had at the time. Thus the first PlayStation console was born (first picture to the left). The PlayStation was the most powerful gaming console of its time when it was released in 1995, with 32 bits of memory. Not one console was available to top that.

Then, as technology evolved (obviously), the original PlayStation console was forgotten, as people moved to PS2 in 2000 when Sony had released again, the best gaming system available. It's still popular today and it currently outsells every gaming console available, even Nintendo's Wii.

The PSP is the first handheld Sony has ever created and the only to this point. My guess is that they didn't even want to make it, but heck, seeing the success Nintendo's handhelds were enjoying, they had to come up with something to compete with. Thus, the PSP emerged and might I add that it's a fine piece of handheld gaming system, with that big screen of its. Oh, and let's not forget that PSP is also the best regarding processing power for handhelds.

Finally, the PS3. By the time the PS3 had been launched, Ken Kutaragi's leaving his position at Sony Computer Entertainment, of Chairman and chief executive officer, was already being discussed. Needless to say, the PS3 is the most powerful household gaming system ever created, but also the most expensive, currently retailing for $600.

Conclusion: under the man's guidance, Sony has developed 4 of the best gaming systems out there and the fact that PS2 sells even to this day (seven years after its launch), is only because the consoles had a caring "father" to put them all on the right track: former Chairman and chief executive officer of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI), Ken Kutaragi. "Ken Kutaragi is a rare combination of a powerful visionary and entrepreneur in one figure," said Howard Stringer, Chairman and CEO, Sony Corporation.

Hope Sony keeps up the good work without you there, Kutaragi. The world certainly owes you a lot.
