Eurocom Entertainment Software is the possible developer

There are a few names in gaming history that really stand out. These are the names that are well known even amongst those that didn't get the chance of a hands-on experience with them. One of these games is GoldenEye 007 for the Nintendo 64, developed by Rare. When a game makes it big, the first thing you can expect is for it to become a part of something even bigger, if not as far as the quality goes, then definitely in numbers. Sequels and spin-offs are a must for every title that establishes a powerful fan base. Still, even if hopes, just as rumors, have always been high for the game, it never became one of the downloadable shooters.

The big issue here was mainly its license. The intricate web of copyrights and legal trickeries is the one that prevented the title from making another appearance. Microsoft purchased Rare from Nintendo in 2002, but, in 2006, Activision acquired the James Bond game rights from Electronic Arts. The two companies might not have managed to get things straight in the past, as to which one was entitled to produce a new GoldenEye, but it seems that they've finally reached a conclusion.

Superannuation's keen eye has spotted another juicy bit of information on the gaming developer's scene. It may have been removed since the first sighting was made, but is seems like a resume for one of the Eurocom Entertainment Software animators showed evidence of a new GoldenEye game for the Wii being molded under Activision's gaze. The title was listed as to be ready in 2010, and it wouldn't be the first Bond title Eurocom would be involved with. The company has worked on other games that carry the secret spy's trademark, like The World Is Not Enough, James Bond Jr., and James Bond 007: Nightfire and Quantum of Solace. As always, Activision has no comment to make at this time.

But a new Bond game that involves Activision wouldn't be a surprise at all. It has already announced its involvement with the Bond project that Bizarre Creations is working on. Responsible for games like Blur and Project Gotham Racing, Bizarre said, back in December 2008, that it was working on a Bond vehicle game that would have no tie-ins with any film and that it would be ready in 2010. With a new movie in the franchise coming in 2011, Activision will probably have a title for that as well, and, even though it seems like plenty of games based on the same subject are being made, we can only hope that at least one of them will live up to the standards of GoldenEye 007.
