Samsung i900, of which we've heard a lot of nice things until now, appeared again on the Web, this time in clear and crisp photos, which allow us to say that the handset is really a good looker. Although its design doesn't have anything out of the ordinary, its overall aspect is a very elegant one and we assume many users will see in i900 one of the best mobile devices of 2008. This is not only due to the aspect of the device, but also because of the features Samsung packed in it.

Samsung i900 will run on the latest Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1, hence for the moment I'm not sure if it's proper to call it smartphone or Pocket PC. I'll stick to smartphone, anyway.

One of the main attractions of i900 is its 5 Megapixel camera with auto focus, flash and video recording. Sure, a 5 Megapixel camera is not a new thing to see in a mobile phone, but Samsung i900 is the first Windows Mobile device to have such a camera, hence at the time of its release the handset will really be a unique one.

The rest of the specs that Samsung i900 comes with include: quad-band GSM connectivity (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) with GPRS and EGDE, 3G/HSDPA for high data transfer speeds (up to 7.2 Mbps), a 3.5 inch touchscreen display with 240 x 400 pixels, Wi-Fi, built-in GPS, Opera 9 browser, Music and Video players, FM radio, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, miniUSB, TV-out, a 1500 mAh battery and no less than 16GB of internal memory, expandable up to 32GB with the addition of a memory card.

The i900 measures only 112 x 56 x 13 millimeters, so it's also slim besides being highly featured and good-looking.

There are no details yet about the availability or pricing of Samsung i900, so we must wait for Samsung to come up with an official announcement regarding this exquisite new handset. Until then, enjoy the available images.

I have the Omnia at the moment and in true windows fashion it is Laggy and slow. Im not trying to be hard on Microsoft I actually run Vista Ultimate on my machine at home and it runs awesome, my machine is a Core i7 so maybe having a powerful machine is the key, who knows.

However I am about to put my omnia back in the box and buy a Nokia 5800, I have allways been happy with Nokia and all the times I have swayed away from Nokia I have been disappointed, and once again with the omnia I am very disappointed.

I don't like having to press the exit key three times to exit a screen, if pressed once it takes ten seconds to exit. it takes around three button pushes to exit a phone call. When you make a call where you may need to use the keypad for in call menus, the screen goes to sleep and turns off ten seconds into the call, I have looked at every option and cannot find a way to change this if there is a setting for it. Even if there is a setting for it this is just one issue and the rest still stand.

This phone is so laggy it is annoying, I would put linux on it as I love the linux OS and use it in my day to day research, study, and work as well as a good OS to get things done on a network or in programming in multiple languages. However installing linux on this otherwise good machine (hardware and specs wise) seems like a time consuming effort from what I have read online.

Well if you have an omnia and you are happy with it then thats good i am happy for you, I am just sharing my experience with this phone for anyones in formation if they are considering getting one.

Regards
