When speaking of rock'n'roll music, a few names pop up in mind, that have reached myth status. Such is the case of Elvis, Queen, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. Unfortunately for die-hard rock and roll fans, only the Stones are still alive and kicking, touring and playing wherever they're required, but for tremendous amount of cash like the recent performance at the Barcelona's Catalan National Art Museum.
The legendary rockers were invited to perform at a private party hosted by "Deutsche Bank", and they received for this show 2.7 million - that's about $5 million for 80 minutes worth of great music. Wow... I guess legends must be paid accordingly. But that's not all. If you start digging through news archives, you'd find a top of the most expensive private parties, with huge amounts of money invested in musical performers. Of course, Mick Jagger's band is up high in the top, charging $8 million for a show. Second best were "The Eagles" with "only" $7.5 million...
Also the Stones are touring Eastern Europe at this time, with a concert scheduled today, in Bucharest, Romania. Almost 60,000 fans are expected to be there, while the rockers are playing on a gigantic, 21 meter-high stage. This is probably the biggest stage in the European part of their two-year tour which is entitled "A Bigger Bang" and that has cashed in $437 million. Of course they're rich and this tour brought in mountains of cash, when a ticket for the Bucharest show could be bought for up to $350. Steep price, lad! Their next stops will be Belgium, Holland, Germany, France, Spain, Ukraine and Hungary, among others.
Back stage gossip also says that yesterday, the Stones only got followed by the Romanian press, the fans not showing too much of an interest in their hotel. The British rockers did not require luxurious and outraging accommodations, their only wish being some eucalyptus trees. Well, it seems like this band is at a popularity peak and continues to fascinate generation after generation, by being more lively and energetic than ever. We wish them good luck and inspiration.
