Shinji Mikami, the creator of The Evil Within, says that he wants to make trap use one of the core elements of the gameplay of the coming survival horror experience.

He tells The Official Xbox Magazine that, “You either use the firearm to play the game or you use traps to beat creatures. Or you can use sneaking to just avoid creatures, so more tactical and strategic. You can sneak through most of the game. Sneak, set a trap and hide.”

The Evil Within is designed to bring the survival horror genre back to its roots, with players having to deal with monsters that are more powerful than their character and a limited amount of resources.

Stealth will be one of the important gameplay mechanics of the title.

The Evil Within will be launched on the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, the PC and current-gen consoles next year.
