The development team at Tango Gameworks and publisher Bethesda are giving gamers a chance to get a closer look at their recently announced The Evil Within via a series of screenshots taken using the core game engine.

The images show a survival horror experience that seems to come close to that offered by the classics of the genre, although some might want a little smaller emphasis on weapons.

The Evil Within is being directed by Shinji Mikami, the developer who created the original Resident Evil experience.

He believes that no current title is worthy of the genre at the moment and says that his game is designed to revive and improve upon its core ideas.

The Evil Within is set to arrive on the PC, current and next-gen consoles in 2014.
