Bethesda and Tango Gameworks have confirmed some technical details about The Evil Within, their upcoming survival horror experience, in the form of the recommended PC requirements, as well as the game's install size across consoles like PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, or Xbox One.

The Evil Within is set to debut next month and quite a lot of survival horror fans are looking forward to the new title, which arrives from the mind of legendary Japanese designer Shinji Mikami, who previously oversaw the Resident Evil series for Capcom. Currently, he's leading the development of the new title with his team at Tango Gameworks, while partnering with Bethesda to publish the survival horror game.

After confirming earlier today that the title has gone gold and is ready for launch across the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One next month, the two companies have now revealed some technical details about the new game.

Recommended PC requirements are pretty steep

First up, for PC users, the two companies have presented the recommended PC requirements, confirming that the following specifications need to be met by PC fans who want to play the game in all its glory. Minimum requirements, unfortunately, aren't available, but Bethesda strongly advises gamers to meet the 4GB VRAM necessity.

"These specifications are listed as 'recommended' as they are the settings we’ve determined ensure that your gameplay experience plays as intended by the development team. We do not have a list of minimum requirements for the game," Bethesda says on the Bethblog.

"If you’re trying to play with a rig with settings below these requirements (you should plan to have 4 GBs of VRAM regardless), we cannot guarantee optimal performance."

You can check out the actual specs below, although Bethesda points out that, while the hard drive space necessary is around 50GB, the actual game will occupy about 41GB after it's done installing.

Recommended PC System Specifications OS: 64-bit Windows 7/Windows 8 CPU: i7 with four plus cores Memory: 4 GBs RAM HDD: 50 GB of hard drive space GPU: GeForce GTX 670 or equivalent with 4GBs of VRAM Other: High Speed Internet Connection, Steam account and activation

Console install sizes have also been revealed

Besides showcasing the PC requirements, Bethesda has also taken the time to confirm to console owners how much space they need on their devices to ensure that The Evil Within can install properly. First up, PS3 and Xbox 360 users need 7GB of space, and Xbox 360 owners can also use a USB 2.0 flash drive for it.

PS4 and Xbox One owners need around 40GB of space for the installation of The Evil Within, so make sure you clear up your hard drives in preparation for the new survival horror game.

The Evil Within launches globally on October 14 for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
