After surprising quite a lot of PC gamers with the pretty steep recommended requirements for The Evil Within, Bethesda and Tango Gameworks have now confirmed the minimum specifications a PC must meet if it wants to play the game at all.

The Evil Within is the next big title set to be published by Bethesda, which should arrive later this month from Japanese studio Tango Gameworks and deliver a great survival horror experience, as it comes from the mind of Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami.

The game will appear on a wide variety of platforms, and among them is the PC. In order to help fans who want to play The Evil Within on their computers, Bethesda and Tango revealed last week the recommended system requirements.

The recommended specs are pretty steep

The actual specs that a PC needs to meet are quite high, ranging from quad-core CPU to a graphics card similar to the Nvidia GTX 670 with at least 4GB of VRAM.

What's more, those specifications are needed to run the game at a 1080p resolution, meaning those who want the game to run at even higher figures, like 1440p or even 4K, need way better components.

The minimum specifications are now available

In order to help PC users with less than optimum rigs see if their configurations can run The Evil Within, the minimum PC requirements have just been revealed, and while still relatively steep, they should be met by quite a lot of people.

"Last week we posted our recommended PC system specs for The Evil Within, and in turn, we received plenty of feedback. While we still recommend this benchmark to experience the game in all its gory glory, we also recognize the need to provide information on how you can play the game with a wider range of PCs," Bethesda mentions on the Bethblog.

The minimum requirements can be found below, but Bethesda emphasizes that, while you'll be able to run the game at a 1080p resolution, some features will have to be turned off in order to ensure a stable framerate.

Minimum Requirements OS: Windows 7/8.1 GPU: GTX 460 or an equivalent 1 GB VRAM card CPU: i7 or an equivalent 4+ core processor RAM: 4 GB HDD: 50 GB

Those who meet the recommended specifications revealed last week, however, will be able to crank up all the visual options and turn on specific features like full-screen anti-aliasing, full shadow quality, motion blur, tessellation, screen space ambient occlusion, and more.

The Evil Within launches worldwide on October 14 for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One platforms.
