343 Industries, the development studio that is now in charge of the Halo franchise, publisher Microsoft and publisher DK have announced that they are working together to launch Halo: The Essential Visual Guide, a new publication that will cover material from the first Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, the ODST spin-off, Reach and even the strategy game Halo Wars.

The Essential Visual Guide will allow any fan to quickly find out any information about the game universe that Master Chief and Cortana inhabit.

DK are the creators of the 2009 Halo Encyclopedia and are using the same combination of well chosen images and well written blurbs to talk about the most important elements of the Halo franchise.

The new book covers everything from heroes, enemies, vehicles, weapons and species to the major plot twists of the various games.

Alex Allan, who is the director of Licensed Publishing working at DK, stated, “DK is thrilled to get the chance revisit the ‘Halo’ experience with Microsoft. As avid gamers ourselves here at DK, we couldn’t wait to delve deeper into the old games and explore the new material to create the most detailed look into the core of the entire ‘Halo’ universe.”

Frank O'Connor, who is leading the development of new Halo content at 343 Industries, added, “After the enormous success of Halo Encyclopedia, we entrusted DK to create another must-have reference book that would provide fans with new insights and revelations into the now ten year battle for humanity’s survival.”

At the moment 343 Industries is putting the finishing touches on the remake of Halo: Combat Evolved, which will be launched this fall exclusively on the Xbox 360 home gaming console.

There's also a team that is in the initial stages of development for Halo 4, a game that will again star Master Chief and his A.I. companion Cortana.
