Writer-producer Shawn Ryan is rumored to consider giving up his latest and most popular creation so far. The Shield series are still in the top of viewer's preferences, but Ryan fears the project takes too much of his time.
Shawn Ryan is a well known TV series writer, previously involved in other popular shows such as Angel (the male vampire spin off the Buffy the Vampire Slayer, very appealing to teen female audiences) and the well known Nash Bridges.
There is no reason to panic yet for the fans of The Shield, as the 5th season, which is to be aired in 2007 is still in the making. The ten episodes of the season have already been written but chances are Shawn Ryan will change his mind or the other producers will replace him and keep the series going.
Ryan says: "The fact that I'm overworked and sick right now makes me lean toward ending it." His brand new project The Unit involves well praised screenwriter David Mamet and director Oz Scott.
The Unit is a take on the American intelligence super secret operations and is due to score high at the viewer's interest, due to the current political situation and the anti-Bush administration feelings that become more and more common among regular Americans.
