Bethesda has just revealed that its extremely popular The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim title will be getting a new patch this month, in the form of update 1.4, hopefully fixing the array of lag issues encountered by PlayStation 3 owners.

Skyrim delivered a stunning experience and that’s why we crowned it Softpedia’s Game of the Year. Sadly, it wasn’t without its faults, as issues were encountered across the PC, PS3 or Xbox 360 platforms.

After several patches, things are still troublesome, especially on the PlayStation 3, where players encountered serious lag or freezes once their save game files reach a certain size.

Things may soon get better, however, as Bethesda has revealed via Twitter that the lag issues on the PS3 will be addressed by Skyrim patch 1.4, which is set to appear this month.

It’s safe to say that, besides the lag issues on the PS3, the patch will bring improvements for the other platforms as well, hopefully fixing the crashes to desktop encountered by PC owners.

There’s no word when Skyrim update 1.4 will appear, but rest assured that we’ll let you know as soon as possible.

i hope it also allows me to finish the thieves guild quest after i threw away my, apparently needed, guild armor. all i need is to become GM of The thieves, but Tonilla wont let me get my leader armor without upgrading a piece of my, now non existent, original armor.

You can't finish it then, you needed to upgrade the original thieves guild armor when it asked you to as part of a quest. If you don't have that armor its sol for you.

Did u sell it, or drop it??? If you sold it, and can remember the shopkeeper, the game usually has the vendors keep the items u sell to them in its memory, so u can go back and repurchase it to complete quest...

Same problem, I sold it, but I sold it to Tonilla, so I cant trade with her anymore because she wants the armor XD

Add the armor manually by using the console

I have pretty constant lag issues. Several times the game has stuttered in a very disorienting way. Other times, I just noticed that it doesn’t seem to run as smooth as its xbox 360 twin. In my opinion, Skyrim looks better on the PS3, but just doesn’t run as smoothly.
Another major problem I have encountered is system crashes, which either render my screen completely black and stuck, or simply freeze my screen (occasionally the music continues, but the screen never unfreezes).
My save file says around 6500 kb. I’m pretty computer lingo stupid, but i think that’s around 6 mb. Again, I could be wrong. Still, the other forums state that the lag problems seem to start when the save file reaches around 6 mb. That would be consistent with the time frame and problems I’ve encountered.
I have loved this game, but I’ve stopped playing until this patch comes out. If it doesn’t fix the issue I’m afraid I’ll have to take this to game stop or sell it on Amazon and get the 360 version. I’m sick of waiting for this game to work right.
Please, Bethesda, hear us loud and clear: thanks for a wonderful game, but please make it run more smoothly. We would appreciate it greatly.
