Prima Games has announced the first and only authorized Skyrim app available on iTunes, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Official World Interactive Map app for the iPad and iPhone.The app’s iTunes Preview page makes it clear that “this is not a game”, but a strategy app approved by Bethesda Game Studios that reveals “every primary and secondary location, point of interest, world encounter, vendor, trainer, and unique item across the realm.”
“From the 9 major hold cities to the expanses of wilderness and mountains, you'll never get lost with over 150 interactive maps,” says Random House Digital, Inc., the developers of the app, and the studio that also coded The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Prima Official Game Guide.
Author David Hodgson commented: “Since work on this set of guides began in early May, I always knew we were planning on releasing something truly epic. I’ve personally logged over 600 hours of exploration, and with the help and support from Bethesda, we’ve managed to create the most informative and detailed work I’ve ever been a part of.”
The map app comes with all 9 hold capital city locations for free. It offers in-app purchases for everything from primary and secondary locations to over 1,000 points of interest, and it allows Skyrim fans to keep track of what they’ve discovered along the way.
Users can toggle points of interest on or off, as well as zoom in on the map as far as 3200%. To add a custom point of interest, users simply drop a pin anywhere on the map. There’s also an integrated search function.
Located in the Games category of the iTunes App Store, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Official World Interactive Map is compatible with all iPhones, iPads and iPod touch devices that support iOS 4.2 and later.
