Sony worked hard to make Bethesda change its mind concerning consoles

Bethesda, the publisher of the upcoming The Elder Scrolls Online role-playing game, didn't even plan to bring the MMO onto consoles like the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, but Bethesda convinced the company to not release it just onto PC and Mac.

The Elder Scrolls Online was confirmed last year by developer Zenimax Online Studios and publisher Bethesda, and was set to make its debut this year on the PC and Mac platforms.

At E3 2013 in June, however, Bethesda confirmed that the online game was now coming to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well, and that it would be launched in 2014.

This change was prompted by Sony's efforts to convince Bethesda to release the game onto the PS4, according to a new interview with Sony's Adam Boyes by GameInformer.

Apparently, Bethesda had no plans about The Elder Scrolls Online beyond the PC and Mac, but Sony explained how beneficial it would be for the MMO to reach a bigger market and even built a plan for Bethesda to make the decision that much easier.
