Gamers will have more to choose from in the future

The Elder Scrolls Online has now gone free-to-play on the PC, which means that the MMO is available for all those interested in trying it out, and the development team at ZeniMax Online and publisher Bethesda are keen to show off some of the items offered in the official Crown Store.

When it comes to mounts, gamers will be able to take control of a Banded Guar Charger, which is described by the official site as capable in terms of speed, strength and resistance.

The Nightmare Courses is another option, a "flame-wreathed steed, black as the pits of Oblivion, is hungry for the chaos of war. Many conflicting legends surround its mysterious origins, but all agree on one thing: only the mighty could hope to control such a beast."

For gamers willing to spend money, the Crown Store for The Elder Scrolls Online also includes pets like the Alik'r Dune-Hound and the Striped Senche-Panther and costumes including a Draugr Polymorph and a stealth rogue.

Gamers who are interested in the items need to get the Crown currency using real world money.

At the same time, those who have opted to pay a monthly subscription for The Elder Scrolls Online despite its move to free-to-play get a monthly stipend of currency that they can use however they see fit.

Gamers who subscribe can also get access to other in-game bonuses.

The Elder Scrolls Online aims to deliver more content in the coming months

Bethesda says that the shift to free-to-play means that more players will be interested in the MMO version of Tamriel and the influx of new gamers will bring the company a bigger audience.

This translates into more opportunities to sell items for money, which in turn will be used to create more content for The Elder Scrolls Online, although no clear plans about them have been offered so far.

More patches are also planned in order to make sure that the balance of the title satisfies as much of the community as possible.

ZeniMax Online and Bethesda are also aiming to launch a version of the MMO for the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 in June of this year.

There are no plans to introduce cross-platform play for The Elder Scrolls Online.
