The development team at ZeniMax Online, publisher Bethesda and Valve announce that The Elder Scrolls Online is now offered via the Steam digital distribution service and that all interested players will be able to get the MMO with a 50 percent price cut.

The title has been offered on the PC for more than two months, and the developers have already launched a number of major patches for it and one new zone designed for high-level gamers to explore.

The Elder Scrolls Online allows players to choose a race and one of the three included Alliances in order to then explore the entirety of Tamriel and help their friends battle both the undead armies of Daedra and rival groups.

It’s unclear whether the decision to launch the title on Steam is designed to enlarge the player base of the MMO or is a last ditch effort to keep it afloat in the long term.

Reports have been suggesting that subscription numbers have dropped a lot after the first free month of game time expired for those who picked the title up on launch day.

In order to celebrate the QuakeCon event, Steam is also running a set of daily deals for fans of Bethesda-created titles and it is also offering one big package including all the games created by the company.
