Looks like history tends to repeat itself with Bethesda Softworks. Tribunal, the first expansion to the highly acclaimed third title in the Elder Scrolls series Morrowind, was pretty much a disappointment to the fans and the release of a new expansion that would calm down the spirits was a must. Hence came shortly afterwards Bloodmoon, which featured a considerably sized additional island and an abundance of new content. With Oblivion, the story is a little different. Instead of a rushed out expansion, Bethesda now offered a content pack with a few extra quests just to keep the fans busy - Knights of the Nine. Only 5 months later, the first expansion is to be released, promising about 25% more fun.

Shivering Isles takes the adventurer to the realm of the Daedric Prince of Madness, Sheogorath. The landscape here is bizarrely split between two sides - Mania and Dementia. Bethesda promises dozens of new creatures including Flesh Atronachs, skeletal Shambles and amphibious Grummites along with new items (weapons and armors forged by the talented craftsmen of Crucible and Bliss) and even more spells. This really seems like the expansion every gamer dreams about. The Windows version of Shivering Isles will be available at retail and is co-published by Bethesda Softworks and 2K Games, while the Xbox 360 version is currently planned for release through Xbox Live online entertainment network by Bethesda Softworks. The FAQ on the official site reveals a little more details on the expansion. See for yourself. Feel free to ignore the personal comments found in brackets.

When will Shivering Isles be available?
Shivering Isles will be released world-wide the week of March 26th. The price will be $30, or 2400 Microsoft points (guess we all know what the Easter Bunny should get for you).

Is it just for PC or for Xbox 360 too?
Shivering Isles will be available for both Windows and Xbox 360. The Windows version will only be available in stores. The Xbox 360 version will be available for download via Xbox Live. A retail version is not possible for the 360 at this time. Both versions will be released simultaneously, worldwide.

Will localized versions be available?
Yes, it will be localized into French, German, Italian, and Spanish.

Is this just another gate to Oblivion like the ones in the main quest?
No. Oblivion is made of lots of planes, one for each Daedric Prince. Oblivion featured the fiery realm of Mehrunes Dagon. The Shivering Isles is the realm of Sheogorath, the Daedric Prince of Madness. It's a place unlike anything you've seen in Oblivion (goodie).

How big is Shivering Isles?
Shivering Isles is about the size Cyrodiil, where Oblivion takes place.

How many hours of gameplay should I expect?
About 30 hours of new content, including an all new main quest - in addition to miscellaneous quests you can complete, lots of landscape to explore, dungeons to discover etc. (just a few more days away).

Do I have to create a new character to play Shivering Isles?
Shivering Isles works with your existing save game/character from Oblivion, or you can start a new game of Oblivion and create a new character just for Shivering Isles (but you'll most likely need to be around level 30 to really enjoy the additions).

Can I continue my quests in Oblivion once I start Shivering Isles?
You can go back and forth between Oblivion and Shivering Isles with your character whenever you like (I hope there are no more assassins following me back like in Tribunal).

Will it be available for the PLAYSTATION3 system?
It is our intention to make it available for PLAYSTATION 3 this year, but no release date has been set.
