Safe driving is a very important element for all the people on the road at any given time, and it's quite a well known fact that SMS
messages and e-mails received on various handheld devices are among the worst sources of distraction for drivers. Well, in order to avoid this kind of problems, the Intelligent Mechatronic Systems Company has launched iLane, a device that really helps the drivers because it generates a spoken summary of the SMS' or e-mail's contents.
The iLane is a device that interacts directly with all the Bluetooth-capable mobile devices from the car
but also with the car's sound system, as it uses the speakers for reading loud the content of the message. In fact, the iLane offers a wide range of functions, being able to make voice phone calls, compose and reply to SMS and e-mail messages via the revolutionary voice recognition technology, thus allowing the driver to focus just on the road ahead.
This is also possible due to the fact that the iLane, once installed, takes over the control over the car's interior (well, actually, over all the Bluetooth devices used within the car), so that the driver will always look at the road ahead. The device works independently from any kind of wireless network, which grants it an even higher degree of autonomy, and it could really improve the quality of traffic and reduce the number of accidents caused by people who are more concerned with answering their email than arriving safe at their destination.
We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
