After the Italian football is going through a very tough period, being practically paralyzed by the IRS and Internal Affairs Agency investigations, a new corruption scandal is to blow in European football. The Dutch league is the next one to be analyzed and investigated by prosecutors, in terms of soccer-fraud and fixing-matches.

The announcement was made on Thursday evening by the Dutch prosecutors. They said that the Hollandaise police is investigating al the clubs competing in the domestic championship,
and that the results will come out as soon as possible. "The investigation is focusing on fraud and it is still in an early stage. Giving too many details would wake up certain people. One thing you can all be sure of is that those found responsible for fixing matches will not get away with it and will be severely punished", said one of the prosecutors' spokesman.

According to "De Telegraaf" newspaper, the police have started the investigations about a week ago, but everything was kept a secret so that those involved would not have the chance to cover their tracks. It seems, though, that the prosecutors already found a lead and are no longer concerned with keeping it away from the media.

As for the Dutch Football Association president, Henk Kesler, he said it's not likely that things turn out the way they did in the Italian Serie A: "As long as there are no established punishable practices, I continue to consider our competition clean. We have never run into strange situations during a match such as a quick red card or a strange pass to the goalkeeper. We know they bet on anything in China, so everything is possible. It has happened before in Germany, Belgium and Italy".

Kesler concluded saying that he's in favor for the prosecutors to start any investigation considered necessary: "If somebody is involved in soccer fraud or fixing matches, they will be punished accordingly. The truth will come out anyway, so I don't tend to worry too much about it".
