We must admit that anybody who played the first Dungeon Lords game was not at all impressed and there were even fewer people who were hoping for a sequel. However, DreamCatcher and
JoWood have
other plans and they're going to revive the Dungeon Lords universe in a brand new game they promise to do right this time, without being in a hurry. The new project is called The Orb and the Oracle and it's planned for release during this winter.
The game will bring us a huge fantasy world filled with monsters, items and lots of areas waiting to be explored, in various landscapes (from countryside to mountains and swamplands). Also, a very interesting thing is the fact that we'll be able to create our own character by using a combination of five classes out of more than 25 available (divided into three class tiers), which means that no new game will be played in the same manner if we start it over again (and, of course, if the developers do their job well).
The single player campaign promises to be a truly non-linear one, while a co-op one is announced, but not detailed (so, we don't know whether two people will be able to play on the same computer or not). Having in mind that we'll get hundreds of weapons, spells, items and artifacts to equip and use, the way we're going to play the multi player campaign won't be such a big problem.
"We have eagerly anticipated releasing a new installment in the Dungeon Lords saga," said Byron Gaum, Global Product Marketing Manager at DreamCatcher Games, when the game was announced. "We're really excited to offer Dungeon Lords fans a new dose of the combat, magic and incredible quests that this fantasy
RPG is known for."
All we can say is that we truly hope it will be a job done flawlessly this time - and having in mind that JoWood is involved, we hope for the best. You can check the first details on The Orb and the Oracle by visiting its
