Neocore Games, as the developer, and Paradox Interactive, as the publisher, have announced a new expansion pack for their strategy game King Arthur, called The Druids, which will be delivered via digital download at some point before the end of the year.

The Druids will be focused on Wales and its King Ryons, the leading champion of the Old Faith and the man who would like to see tradition and magic return to the entirety of Britannia.

The expansion will offer a campaign build around the faction, allowing the player to take charge and conquer the entire island.

Players will be free to decide their own objectives when the game starts and they will serve more as overall goals than as gameplay limitations.

Neocore Games says the new expansion will offer about 30 hours of gameplay that offers the same mix between strategic planning and tactical real time battles, with a new faction which has its own unique mechanics and concepts.

Tamás Farkas, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Neocore, has statement when the announcement was made that, “This is our first King Arthur release in our partnership with Paradox Interactive. After our recent work together with Lionheart: Kings’ Crusade, we are confident King Arthur – Druids will exceed our community’s expectations.”

This is the second expansion for King Arthur, coming after the Saxons focused one, which addressed a lot of the issues that players had with the initial launch of the game.

Despite superficial similarities to the Total War series King Arthur is a pretty unique game which requires a lot of attention to long term planning and a focus on limiting losses, all paired with a very ingenious side quest system.

Neocore Games also published Lionheart: King's Crusade, a strategy title which allows gamers to relieve the events of the Crusades from the perspective of the British king and that of Saladin.
