The Dr. Octopus of LED Flashlights

SHARE:

Adjust text size:

I've just watched last night (for the third time, if I'm not mistaking) "Spiderman II", and were once again impressed by those smart articulating arms/legs Dr. Octopus used to kick the web out of Spidey. So, I began searching the net for gadgets that reminded me of the evil doctor, and one of the most interesting devices I've come across is the Gerber Inferno Flexi-Light from Edmund Scientifics, an seemingly ordinary flashlight that can transform to reveal seven hidden articulating legs, each of them with its own high-powered
LED.

The device is quite versatile, since it is capable of giving its user total control on the direction, intensity or type of light, due to its articulating legs. And yes, type too, because the Gerber Inferno Flexi-Light features five lighting modes, namely focused white flashlight, diffuse white area light, night vision red area light, focused night vision red and flashing red emergency beacon.

Here are some of the device's most interesting technical and commercial features:

- Works with 3 AAA batteries;
- Battery life: around 40 hours of continuous functioning;
- Manufactured from advanced polymeric and elastomer materials;
- Uses 7 high-power LED bulbs;
- Illuminates up to 15 meters;
- Water resistant.

The device costs around 40 dollars, a bit more than an ordinary flashlight, but it's worth the money, considering its looks and functionality.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
