The third-person shooter is coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One sometime in 2015

Ubisoft has just released a new trailer for Tom Clancy's The Division, promising to deliver the first Xbox One gameplay footage of the game next week at Gamescom.

The Division's gameplay demonstration revealed at this year's edition of the E3 game show in June was really impressive, showing some stunning visuals and a very detailed world, and there were many premature rumors that the PC version of the game had already been downgraded in order to match the level of the PS4 and Xbox One platforms.

The developers said that no such thing occurred, nor would it, but they understood why people might fear that, when taking into account the high graphical fidelity of the Snowdrop engine, the beast that powers the upcoming third-person shooter.

Unfortunately, that's what the company said about Watch Dogs, and then had to carefully consider its words while everyone was up in flames regarding the visual disparity of the actual game compared to the initial reveal at E3 2012, and then had to play another bout of lame PR statements when the PC edition of the title was found to have been toned down in terms of graphics.

There have also been some rumors regarding the performance of the Xbox One version, so the gameplay reveal at Gamescom, showing the game running on Microsoft's platform, will hopefully put all doubts to rest.

The video also sneaks in some off-screen footage of the E3 demo for the game, along with reactions from some pretty excited attendees.

The game is inspired by some real-world events, showing both the complexity and fragility of our society, and The Division extrapolates on a worst-case scenario that sees the United States collapse within five days of the rapid spread of a deadly disease that follows Black Friday.

The third-person shooter follows some sleeping agents of the Department of Homeland Security, a group established with the precise purpose to combat such events as the ones unfolding in the game. Players will navigate a sprawling open world in a massive multiplayer online situation that pits them against both AI-controlled adversaries as well as against other players in the game.

The Division was initially scheduled to drop in the fall of this year, but was pushed back by Ubisoft in order to give the developers all the time they needed to polish the engaging experience that the game aims to offer, and is now slated for an unspecified 2015 release, coming to PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
