The Division, the upcoming massively multiplayer third-person shooter from Ubisoft, has received a stunning live gameplay demonstration video from E3 2014, showing off a new mission that players will have to complete in the upcoming online experience.

The Division impressed millions of gamers from around the world last year, thanks to a gorgeous gameplay video that showed the next-gen MMO in action, complete with intense shooting, plenty of great-looking visual effects, and much more.

Since then, Ubisoft has slowly revealed more details, screenshots, and videos with the game, before confirming that its release had been pushed back to 2015.

At E3 2014 a few hours ago, a special new gameplay demonstration for the game was organized by Ubisoft, showing some new portions of its virtual Manhattan.

The demo started in the subway tunnels, as apparently here many of the players will be able to organize bases and plot out their missions aboveground.

"At different times in New York’s modern era, the subway system has been a 'challenging' location. But in the post-pandemic New York of The Division, the subway is the quietest place to be – at least in this gameplay demo," Ubisoft said on the UbiBlog.

The action quickly picks up, as two players are joined by two of their friends and they go on a mission to take control of a major location so that one of them can organize a base in it and slowly start taking control of the region.

"Eventually they emerge into a wrecked midtown Manhattan, only to spot another group patrolling the area. And that’s when all hell breaks out. Shots ring out, the agents spread out, and one of them tosses some sort of strobe drone."

"The strategic team-based gameplay is on full display, with each agent playing a different role and deploying different weapons and gear. And while it’s got the all-out action you expect from a great shooter, the game’s RPG core is also apparent – with every kill granting experience points, and a wide array of customizable options at each agent’s fingertips."

Again, lots of amazing visual effects are on full display, as Ubisoft and developer Massive want to show off the power of their Snowdrop engine.

No other details were given, but you can expect to hear much more about The Division as we get close to 2015 and its eventual release at that time.
