When post K-Fed Britney Spears hooked up with America's most favorite heiress, people thought they would be in for quite a show. And they were one hundred percent right! They got all that and more: drunk binges, indecent photos, saucy comments and lesbian-like public behavior.

Well, it was good while it lasted. Less than a couple of weeks into their 'friendship', the two gals called it quits. If, until then, Paris Hilton's publicist was quick to talk about their 'special bond', the moment they stopped going out together, he stopped making any statements about them. No one ever really found out what made them have the 'tragic' fall-out.

However, sources from inside their circles of friends hinted that the girls (like educated grown-ups that they are) fought over a man, and not just your regular hunk (as one might have expected). No, apparently Paris was not happy about Britney hanging out too much with oil heir Brandon Davis, also referred to in the media as 'greasy bear' or 'fat Elvis'.

Although Paris has been linked with Brandon in more than one occasion, things never quite took off with them two, but they remained close friends. However, it took Britney only one date out in the town with him to anger the mighty Paris. The consequences were, oh!, more than tragic: Paris ditched Britney and never heard of her again.

Other spies claim that it wasn't Brandon the one that came in between the BBFs, but Britney's decision not to hang with the 'American fantasy princess' because of the damage that did to her public image. 'Britney called Paris and said she had decided not to be seen in public with her "for now". Britney told Paris that it's not personal', one source said.

This got Hilton so upset that she even refused to invite Spears to her special Christmas party. Since then, rumor goes, she keeps referring to her former party-pal as 'the animal' (just like she did with Lindsay Lohan and the 'firecrotch' nickname). The explanation for this is very simple: 'Britney doesn't think about things before she does them. She just acts out', the source adds.
