A concept phone that wants to be a digi-cam

There's a pretty large number of concept phones out there, all sporting amazing designs or form factors, but unfortunately, we won't be getting to see anything like them anytime soon. In this case, a designer is presenting a phone that can actually be transformed into a product and that "does not require any future voodoo technology". By simply looking at it, one word comes into mind, which is "huge".

This is because the phone has been designed to include a large battery that will provide a more impressive battery life. Also, it's meant to be different from all the camera phones that don't usually include capabilities comparable to stand-alone digi-cams. Keeping this in mind, it's rather hard to fit all this into a smaller case.

As for form factor, the concept phone is mainly a flip phone. When closed, it resembles a canbybar handset and can easily convert into a digital camera. It packs an MP3 player, twin displays that share the same backlight for a longer battery life, 5-megapixel camera with flash and an SD memory card slot for memory expansion. SD cards were preferred to the MicroSD ones most mobiles include because - according to the designer - they "are pretty dang small anyway, and they're getting pretty great storage capacities now."

The handset also features dedicated camera controls and its case includes a non slip gripping surface. As opposed to regular camera phones, this concept is in the end more of a digi-cam that can also be used for all of the user's communication needs. While the flip phone concept may never make it out of the project stage, it can be turned into a product much easier than other concept phones.
