The Desktop Air Conditioner

Summer is almost here, and this can be felt quite clearly, especially for those of us who are not lucky enough to have an air conditioning unit or have to work in office spaces with little or no ventilation.

And that's exactly one of the reasons behind the development of the Desktop Air Conditioner, a device that needs only 2 major elements in order to work: a bottle of frozen water and batteries.

Designed to be very user-friendly, the Desktop Air Conditioner uses frozen water in order to create a control system for the environment. Thus, all the user has to do is fill up a bottle of water, put it in the freezer for a while, then place the bottle of frozen water in the device's specially designed compartment and press the start switch. The effects can be felt immediately, although the producers don't mention just how small must be the space in which the device is used, or just for how long the effects last.

The Desktop Air Conditioner is made of plastic, measures 15 cm x 30 cm x 25 cm, and works with 2 "D" batteries, but also includes an AC jack for an optional adapter. But considering its price (the device is available for just 20 dollars on http://www.overstock.com), it might represent a much cheaper, and even more practical alternative for the already classical air conditioners, but its efficiency is nevertheless questionable, considering its design concept.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
