As movie buffs must already know, film trailers are no longer just “promos” for a new project, they’re also a form of art in and of themselves. At the same time, they’re also a tool for measuring fans’ excitement and, with “The Dark Knight Rises,” it literally went through the roof.

Think With Google has just released the top 10 list of the most popular trailers on YouTube and, while the number 1 position doesn’t go to a movie, TDKR is the first in the film category.

Chris Nolan’s third and final Batman installment lands in at number 3 in the chart, with nearly 27 million views. Surprise – Official Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Live-Action Trailer and Reveal Trailer – Official Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 occupy the first two positions.

Two different “Skyfall” trailers have also made the cut, as also did the green band preview for the R-rated comedy “Ted,” trailer #2 for “The Hunger Games” and the official trailer for NBC’s “Revolution.”

Just in case you contributed nothing to the 27 million views to TDKR (26,825,747 to be more exact), check it out above.
