The Daily, News Corp.’s exclusive digital magazine for Apple iPad customers, has just received its first maintenance update, which increases the app’s performance and stability, improves the introduction experience, and tweaks some settings relating to the app’s Twitter integration, to name the key enhancements.

Launched at a special event in New York earlier this month, The Daily is the first digital news publication with original content created every day exclusively for the iPad.

It was built from scratch by a team of top journalists and designers and covers news in sports, pop culture, entertainment, apps, games, technology, opinion, celebrity gossip and more, from all over the world.

As noted above, version 1.0.1 delivers some maintenance. Existing users are advised to delete the app before downloading the new version, likely to avoid certain incompatibility issues.

• Increased performance and stability • Improved introduction experience • Twitter posting updated • Twitter login updated • Change to image caption text concatenation

The Daily takes full advantage of the iPad’s storytelling and sharing capabilities to make stories, photos, video, audio and graphics come alive the more the user touches, swipes, or taps on the tablet’s screen. It publishes 365 days a year.

The Daily is free for two weeks from the time iPad owners download the app. As the ‘trial’ period ends, customers can opt for one of two subscription plans -  $0.99 a week or $39.99 a year.

The Daily Holdings, Inc., the company handling the app after its release, has confirmed that the electronic publication will be offered on additional tablets over the coming months.
