After sharing a release date and launching a special video with The Crew, Ubisoft has confirmed some more technical details about the upcoming online racing game, revealing that it runs at 1080p and 30fps on PS4 and Xbox One, and that it has microtransactions.

The Crew was unveiled last year at E3 2013 by Ubisoft as a multiplayer racing game that takes place across the United States of America and offers all sorts of different events to players eager to prove their worth.

The game has since received some details about car customization, its vast online world, and about how players aren't forced to team up with others in most events.

Now, after hearing an official release date and seeing a fresh gameplay video, more info is surfacing about Ubisoft's new racing title.

First up, a representative of the publisher has confirmed to Videogamer that The Crew will run at a 1080p full HD resolution on the PS4 and Xbox One, alongside a resolution of 30fps.

According to the website, developer Ivory Tower wants to keep the game almost the same across all platforms, meaning that not even the PC edition will have exclusive features, although you can expect extra graphics options to be included.

The PS4 edition will also make special use of the DualShock 4 controller, as the touchpad can be employed to manipulate the map, for example.

In a separate statement, a Ubisoft representative also confirmed to Videogamer that The Crew would have microtransactions, like quite a few online games nowadays.

For the multiplayer racing title, the microtransactions will be tied to getting fresh performance parts for your car. The game has a dual economy, as you can spend in-game money or real-life cash to improve your vehicle in the garage.

"We can confirm that performance parts can be unlocked through progression as well as microtransactions," the Ubisoft official said. "All content can be unlocked through progression, but for busy gamers who want to save some time, they will have the opportunity to buy some items in-game."

Last year microtransactions in racing games caused quite a stir, as both Forza Motorsport 5 on the Xbox One and Gran Turismo 6 on the PS3 employed such a system, much to the displeasure of gamers who believed it was turning the racing experiences into a "pay-to-win" scenario.

The Crew is set to debut for PC, PS4, and Xbox One in fall of this year.
