Extremely small form factor, yet very high storage capacity

It's quite a well-known fact that size is a very important matter nowadays, and when it comes to MP3 players, the general idea is that the smaller they are, the better. However, it seems that the Walletex company has taken this concept to an extreme level, and announced the imminent launch (well, not that imminent, since we're talking about June 2007) of an MP3 player no bigger than a credit card.

That would seem quite a huge technological effort for a smaller manufacturer as Walletex, but the truth of the matter is that the future music player will be solely an improvement of their current line of credit card-sized USB flash drives called Wallet Flash. According to several online sources (the most important being the gadget-crazy OhGizmo and Krunker blogs), the device will feature a double sided USB connector with three-in-one functionality, namely USB communication, charging, and audio jack. This means that the users will require a pair of USB headphones in order to listen to their music, and at the same time will be able to connect the device directly to their computer.

Moreover, the device will sport another pretty interesting feature, namely the possibility of graphics customization, as it has large double-sided branding area for high quality printing. Since there isn't an exact list of specs for the future MP3 player on the company's website, take a look at the specs of the current Wallet Flash USB drive, since they're probably not that different:

- dimensions: 85.6mm x 54mm x 1.9mm; - weight: 12 grams; - storage capacities: 64MB,128MB, 256MB, 512MB, 1GB, 2GB; - connector: double sided USB connector; - interface: USB 2.0, USB 1.1; - features: functional LED indicator; - device is: waterproof.

There's no word on the possible pricing out yet, and the only things we can give you for now is the announced release date (June 2007), and a pair of photos, courtesy of the aforementioned Krunker website.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
