If you’re still on Windows 8.1 Preview right now, you better hurry up to deploy either the full version of Windows 8.1 or another operating system because Microsoft will discontinue this testing build on Wednesday.

Windows 8.1 Preview was officially unveiled in June 2012 at the BUILD developer conference, but now that the full Windows 8.1 is up for grabs, Redmond is retiring the testing build to move all users to the final version.

Windows 8.1, on the other hand, was launched in October 2013 and comes a free download for Windows 8 adopters from the store, which means that you won’t have to pay a cent for it.

If you’re running the preview version, you won’t be able to update to Windows 8.1 without losing your apps and settings, so it might be a really good idea to perform a clean install just to make sure that you’re getting top-notch performance on your computer.
